Protect Ireland's native Honey Bee

Welcome to our native honey bee blog. The Irish native honey bee is under significant threat from diseases, parasites and agricultural practices. A further threat to the genetic purity and natural adaptation of our native bee has arisen through the unwise importation of non native bee species to Ireland. The purpose of this blog is create awareness of the threats to our native honey bee, inform you of the research progress being made to help the bee's survival and to provide information on an exciting project to re-introduce honey bees to the wild following a long period of devastation from the introduced parasite Varroa destructor.
